Welcome to the Portarlington Business Development Association We are the voice of the Portarlington Business Community to enhance and map the economic opportunities for Portarlington and surrounds, including tourism, shopping, accommodation and business services. We also would aslo like to thank those visitors that came to the National Celtic Festival in Portarlington from 8th to 11th June 2007over the long weekend. The organisers have mentioned that the acts are coming from as far away as Ireland and Canada and all over australia for music, markets, festivities and all things celtic. Victorian State Government Street Life Programme - $5000 grant. Thanks to a grant of $5000 from the Victorian State Government Street Life Programme, the PBDA has now produced a Dining and Accomodation Visitors Guide as well as updating the existing Business & Community Directory and ongoing web site updates. |

JUST TAKE A LOOK AT WHAT HAS BEEN ACHIEVED * Succesfully lobbied and gained approval for streetscape improvements. A total of $375,000 has been promised by local and State Governments. (Plans will be formulated by CoGG and will be available for public comment.) * Business Directory - Published and distributed to all households in Portarlington. The 2006/2007 directory will be distributed to every household early in the new year. * A $5000 StreetLIFE grant application was successful. This will be used for the publication of the "Visitors Guide to Portarlington" pamphlet - advertising accommodation, cafes and restaurants in and around town . * Roundabout at Sproat / Newcombe Streets - successfully lobbied Local Government to undertake landscaping and planting. * Website up and running (www.portarlingtonbusiness.com.au/) * Conducted a "Preparing A business Plan" forum facilitated by Richard Coumans CPA Geelong. * State Government updates - Lisa Neville (MP) meeting with PBDA members on Safe Harbour development. * Local Government Updates - Kate Sullivan (Director Urban Planning) on proposed planning for Portarlington. * In Liaison with Bellarine Bayside, new advertising and information bulletin boards at Rotunda situated near Parks Hall. * Portarlington Strategic Plan - Significant contribution made! |
